Time for some new material...hot off the press..."Spreaders" and I disagree

On Friday evening I watched the two European matches. The Smiling Assassin (Young Spreaders) gave a decision that I thought was odd. On Saturday I had exactly the same scenario and gave a diffrent decision.

Who was right, Spreaders or me. Should Spreaders and I swap roles Panel for C1 or am I never going to get the hang of this wonderful game. You decide.

(For the sake of simplicity I shall use good old Red & Blue. Remember the exact same thing happened in Spreaders' and my game)

Red attacking, Blue defending.

Red hoist a big kick and it is caught in-goal by Blue.

Blue kicks to clear his lines and the ball is charged down by Red. Ball bounces in-goal before going dead.

I gave 22 to Blue.

Spreaders gave 5m Scrum to Red.

I'd have to say 22 to Blue everytime, as it is red thats taken the ball into the in goal area.

I think you are right!!

Even if the kick had passed the goal-line before being charged down, it was still then played into the goal area by red before becoming dead.

I've just checked law 22 and I can't see where Spreaders got his decision from!

I'm going to side with you guys and gang up on Spreaders as well! I didn't see the match in question (who was it?), but from your description the decision mystifies me. Hey, Robert Burns, d'you think you can get Spreaders to sign up to this forum and explain himself?

I have sent him an email,

However,

You must consider the prospect of being cross examined by a bunch of junior referees may not be quite his cup of tea.

Agree with all if as described. I cannot imagine Spreaders thoughts at the time, it just goes to prove we are all vunerable to the odd mistake in a pressurised game, the stakes and pressures at their level being far greater than most contributors to these forum pages.

Exactly the point I was trying to make.

It's like you at work being told what you have done wrong by the new apprentice, depending on how it's done it can either be seen as good that the person is keen or a who the hell do you think you are situation.

Although I thinkin this postwe would hopefully just be seen as keen!
