............those against the move point out that Hammer Time is purely conceptual, indeed may even be non-linear................

Of couse its non-linear!!!! How else could April 1st fall on October 10th?

The rest of the world base their time zones on + or - GMT.

Unless it has escaped the whit of the academics who want to change our time zone to the UTC, the "G" in GMT stands for Greenwich (London, United Kingdom; not Greenwich America!!). How the hell can we even be contemplating such a move?!!!

As for the Euro? Perhaps it will encourage us to once again foster closer trading links with the 58 nations of the Commonwealth.

It would mean 3pm kick-offs all through the year. And schools being able to train/play after school between November and February.

There appears to be some fantastic potential business opportunities waiting in the wings with provisional applicants. Both Sudans, Yemen and somaliland!!!! :wow:

What seems to have escaped them is that, for all practical purposes UTC already = GMT

Even in southern England it gets dark at 16:30. In Scotland it gets dark about 16:00. If we stay on summertime then it's simply bloody miserable for everyone. Why bother? There are plenty of economically successful countries that span time zones - USA springs to mind.

Stupid idea.

And trade links with the Commonwealth? Get real. Sod all population and sod all money - any one who feels the Commonwealth is a preferable trading partner to Europe needs some basic economic grounding. The Commonwealth, like the concept of a United Kingdom, is archaic and pointless.

Let's see independence for the regions within the current UK (and Germany and France and Spain and Italy and others) within a United States of Europe.

And can Australia, New Zealand et al please bugger off and find their own Head of State, rather than complicate our lives with unwanted Monarchies.

Rant over.

Love to all

Dave.
