Judging by the way this thread has gone, the referees don't need the hagglers and unruly spectators to give them stick, the haggler and unruly spectator is one of our own.

i don't understand why people are surprised that there is some disagreement here : the OP describes a scenario where two experienced refs disagree - let's not be surprised if the refs here disagree.

in fact in this thread there seems to be

- unanimous agreement that if this was a one-off it's not material, play on.

- then turning to the question of a team that continually stands short of 10m, then there is disagreement on how important it is to manage this. Or not manage it.
