I know Hywel and he would not have done this lightly.

Well done, totally agree and support you.

well done that man... though strictly speaking some of what he wrote is not totally correct.

"Can I remind you that the referee has the right to red card players, members or supporters"

Maybe he should have that right for the last two demographics - but he doesn't. Yet.

Not that the idiots that are the origin of the abuse will know that I suspect ;-)

No-one else seen this yet?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/rugby-union/26767000

Sad that it has been necessary, but well done for laying down the line. Hoping that it is not just in response to a Abuse Report.

A widening of the participation base ...... Multiplied by
Professional pressures ...... Multiplied by
Forensic examination of decisions ........ Multiplied by
Social media comment opportunities.......... Multiplied by
The complexity of the laws
= Home Unions to get a real grip on this subject. Starting with transparent disciplinary result reporting.

I admire this persons action, the mere fact that he has taken the stance tells you this is the tip of this iceberg.

Maybe some of the £millions generated by TV,rwc,6n could be earmarked toward a proactive assault?

Here' s my starter suggestion, please add as you see fit......
1) Every RFU League table to carry a header " no referee=no game, there is no excuse for abusing officials"
2) Fund secret shopper programme to visit clubs and report on findings
3) produce a reporting data system that CBs can lift reporting data from, to highlight hotspots/club trends and other MI.
4) ......

He may not be able to technically red card them, but he can order them to leave, which amounts to the same thing.

Well done, but pre-empting a disciplinary appearance?

Either way its about time clubs took responsibility.

met him a couple of times this season, once as their ref (no issues from the sidelines that day, but they did beat the top team :chin: ) and aslo as a junior coach, very welcoming and a great club for the juniors

I re-read the letter and I see what you mean.
you are right I think the letter isn't quite correct in the way he expressed it.

He could have said that during the game the referee has the right to order anyone, inc spectators and coaches, to leave the playing enclosure, and that at any time from when he arrives at the club until he leave he can make an official report of match-official abuse .
