I refereed on Saturday.
Great game, really competitive throughout.
Two minutes left, away team win a line out on their own 5m line but seal off at the resulting ruck.
I penalize, so home team, down by 6 points decide to tap and set up a driving maul 5m out.
The maul is moving fairly quickly towards the try line, with the ball available at the back when a defending player comes in the side and takes the maul down.
I have no hesitation in awarding a penalty try.
I am under the posts when the skipper comes running over, shouting at me that I can't award the PT as I haven't given them a previous warning and it was their first time offending.
I tell him quite firmly that I have made the decision and will discuss it with him afterwards.
He tries again, so I say exactly the same thing.
He then jumps up and down, and screams in my face "No, we will talk about it NOW!"
I issue a red card to him .
Final whistle two minutes later.
Immediately the coach is all over me, spectators are calling me a f******g cheat.
My coach escorts me off the pitch as more spectators join in
In the bar afterwards the coach really lays into me and tries to blame me fr the red card, saying I should not have engaged the skipper and have hung him out to dry.
He then tells me I am fat and not fit enough to referee. His exact words were "look at you, there is no way you are fit enough to referee at this level".
My coach had done a report and given me a 96% accuracy at the breakdown.
Just seen the clubs match report which seems to be a work of fiction

I have reported this to our disciplinary team.
This is the second time this year I have refereed them, and sent their coach to the stands in the first game for abusing me.
If the coach is that bad, how can he expect his players to behave differently
