I had a Junior game today. Stow U14 v Lydney U14.

I have to admit, having played against Lydney teams many moons ago, I was expecting a proper niggle fest. In fact it was a great game of rugby, a little bit of handbags on occasion but generally played in a good spirit. Final result... 19 - 31 and a thanks ref from both teams.

Your right of course. The temptation is to give the weaker team some slack and referee the better team harder.
I will keep an open mind of course, thanks for the advice.

Ended up 79-5
No cards, but two penalties against the winning team for dissent in the first half. Second half was golden.
Finished 5 minutes early with a broken arm :frown:
Nee naa time, all finished in good spirits.

This weekend

Yorkshire Division 2 Level 8

Old Rishworthians (Halifax) v Keighley

Call from OR last night saying pitch was under water on Monday morning but water was now back in the Calder and on its way to the North Sea. With more rain forecast I'm not hopeful. If it is on my calves'll be complaining on Sunday.

my boy is wondering if he should bring 50+ sunscreen with him, or will 30+ suffice?

It's going to be a barmy 3c this Saturday. So I will ensure there is another shrimp for the BBQ

After having my last 3 games in a row called off (2 for teams not having enough players and one due to the weather) I'm hoping the rain holds off enough for my L8 at Uddingston on Saturday.

That will be a tasty encounter. I wonder if Reading are still all shouting "WALL!!" when they chase a kick forward? A few teams in the past have complained about this tactic claiming it to be intimidating.

On a personal note, another road trip - although not so far this time - Bridgnorth -v- Silhilians

Thermals packed already!

Are you serious? I think we were doing that in U11's to remind ourselves to come up as a line and not give them gaps to run through! Intimidating? Sounds like someone needs a great big cup of concrete with their breakfast!

Predicted to be 2 degrees.

It doesn't really matter what sort of degrees, it's still cold! :holysheep:

Small College national round of 16. 4-7 inches of snow predicted for Saturday's match and a balmy -6C for Sunday's start. At least the tournament director already put out a No Leggings notice.
