No injury time then (or locally known as apples drinking time) or it'll be dark!

Local match for me this week.

Kettering play host to Wellingborough - nice tasty local derby :)

Got a 'G' in my assessment at Bridgnorth last week too :D

This weekend I have the pleasure of being hosted by our very own Womble  So I assume I don't need a watch or a score card

A late one at the club then, or is the newly promoted Mrs D taking you out for a celebratory dinner ?

it's an in-joke. We had much much discussion a while ago when womble claimed that as a ref he never kept score

When match observing at Bournemouth (L5) I sit in stand (at new tables supplied by RFU post World Cup), and the guy with the laptop for their electronic scoreboard, with timer, sits next to me and is great at checking score and time off and on to synchronise the timer.
But referees I am observing always keep time and score themselves, but do know they have a reliable club service to use as back up.

Off to the country races tomorrow for a booze-a-thon.

Max temp will only be 21C so might need a fleece for the late afternoon.

I'm making my none-awaited comeback from injury on Sunday in an U14 game... no joking they asked the society for a ref because of issues in the fixture last year. I've soaked up RFU Regulation 15, scrubbed up my knee brace and dusted off my whistle.

if it's a league game may also have a max score difference you need to be aware of..

Travelled 5 minutes to referee Oxford v Cambridge Colleges game this afternoon. Dark blues won 54-5. Really, really enjoyed it. My legs now need to recover for an U16 school game 200m from home tomorrow.

This Weekend sees me at:-

Sandal II (Wakefield) v Ilkley II

L8 Merit League game. Should be good although I suspect it'll be muddy and Sandal has a slope. Boo!

Hopefully Mr Lovell will have sent my birthday boots by then.

They were only £79 on Monday. They're back up to £104 now.

I'm off to Mull for Isle of Mull vs Hyndland.

A 4 hour journey each way, including the ferry. They'd better not do what happened to me last week and call it off but forget to tell the red!

do you guys find that club's lower XVs reflect their 1st XVs league positions?

Id expect that to be less true the higher up the pyramid the 1st XV is, if only because the 2nd XV's highest level of competition may well be limited to several levls below that of the 1st XV eg level 8 at most.

RFU Regulations do not allow 2nd XVs to play above Level 8.

The RFU handbook for 2013-14 listed in the index several 2nd XVs with their levels. The differences from 1st XVs were as follows:-

+1+2+3+4
Level 603122
789104
861271
91740
Totals1531337

I find clubs with >2 teams' 2nd team are about 3 levels below their 1sts - does that make sense?

Clubs with only one team below the firsts could put anything out ranging from L6 to no shows 'cos they've no front row. Some clubs up here have very good 2nd teams eg Wharedale's and yet similar level clubs eg Otley can't get a 2nd team out on occasions. Some clubs are very 1st team centric.
